Job Description
David Gill Gallery is seeking a Gallery Intern to join on a part-time basis.
For over 35 years, David Gill Gallery has been a pioneer in the world of collectible design and art. Founded in 1987 on the Fulham Road, Chelsea, the gallery first exhibited the works of historic masters such as Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Jean-Michel Frank and Line Vautrin soon adding contemporary artists, including Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti, Grayson Perry and Donald Judd. From the outset, David Gill Gallery invigorated the London and global art scene with an original taste and perspective on art and design.
Job purpose:
The Gallery Intern will assist primarily on Saturdays, acting as a point of contact for visitors and providing administrative support. This role is designed to offer an introduction to working in a gallery environment, with opportunities to learn about gallery operations and customer service.
Normal working hours will be 11am to 6pm, Saturday only.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Greeting visitors to the gallery and providing information about the current exhibitions.
Assisting with invigilating the gallery while visitors are present.
Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the gallery space, ensuring it is visitor-ready.
Supporting the Gallery Associate and Sales Team with research and administrative tasks, such as maintaining the mailing list and organizing materials.
Assisting in preparing and sending out sample requests, books, or gifts as needed.
Answering phone calls, taking messages, and directing inquiries to the appropriate team member.
Assisting Communications Team in updating and maintaining digital content.
Applicant specification:
Interest in art, design, and the gallery world; academic knowledge in these areas is preferred.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Well presented, good communication and interpersonal skills, including a polite and friendly manner.
A positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning about art, design, and the gallery world.
